FAQ
When should you see a doctor?
- The foreskin remains trapped behind the head of the penis and cannot be returned to its normal position;
- The head of the penis or foreskin becomes increasingly swollen;
- Pain develops or becomes more severe;
- The colour of the tissues changes;
- You experience difficulty urinating.
How is paraphimosis reduction performed?
Before the procedure, the doctor assesses the condition of the tissues, the degree of swelling, and whether reduction can be performed safely. Depending on the situation, measures may be used to reduce swelling and discomfort before the doctor carefully returns the foreskin to its normal position.
In some cases, if manual reduction is not possible or the condition requires another type of intervention, additional surgical treatment may be necessary. After paraphimosis has been resolved, it is important to determine why it occurred in order to plan further management. This may include a urologist consultation.
