Gallbladder ultrasound

A safe, painless, and highly informative examination that evaluates the shape, size, wall thickness, and contents of the gallbladder. It helps detect gallstones, polyps, inflammation, bile stasis, and other abnormalities. How is a gallbladder ultrasound performed?

During the examination, the physician applies a special gel to your skin and moves an ultrasound transducer over the area of the gallbladder. In real time, the ultrasound allows the physician to evaluate the gallbladder's shape, size, wall thickness, contents, and detect gallstones, polyps, bile sludge, or other abnormalities. The examination is painless, does not involve X-ray radiation, and typically takes 10–15 minutes.

Immediately after the examination, you will receive the physician's report. If the results indicate a gallbladder disorder, you may be advised to schedule a consultation with an adult gastroenterologist or a pediatric gastroenterologist. If it is necessary to assess not only the gallbladder but also the liver, pancreas, spleen, and other abdominal organs, you may consider an abdominal ultrasound or an abdominal and kidney ultrasound.
