FAQ

When should prenatal care begin?

It is recommended to schedule the first appointment with an obstetrician-gynecologist as soon as pregnancy has been confirmed. The initial consultation allows the doctor to assess the mother's health, determine the gestational age, develop an individualized prenatal care plan, and recommend the appropriate laboratory tests, pregnancy ultrasound examinations, and prenatal screening. Early prenatal care helps identify potential risk factors at an early stage, monitor the progress of pregnancy, and support the healthy development of the baby. Even if the pregnancy is progressing normally and there are no concerning symptoms, timely medical supervision is essential for the health of both mother and child.

How often should I see an obstetrician-gynecologist during pregnancy?

Mothers will have approximately 10–15 prenatal appointments throughout pregnancy. Up to 28 weeks of gestation, visits are typically scheduled about once a month. Between 28 and 36 weeks, appointments are usually recommended every 2–4 weeks, and after 36 weeks, they are generally scheduled weekly, or more frequently if clinically indicated.

At each appointment, the obstetrician-gynecologist monitors the progress of the pregnancy, assesses the mother's overall health, measures blood pressure and weight, evaluates fetal growth and heartbeat, and reviews the results of laboratory tests, pregnancy ultrasound examinations, and prenatal screening. If necessary, additional investigations or consultations with other specialists may be recommended.

As part of the Prenatal Care Program, every expectant mother receives an individualized schedule of appointments based on the stage of pregnancy, examination results, and current clinical guidelines. This ensures that all recommended examinations are completed on time and that both mother and baby receive continuous medical care throughout pregnancy.

When should the «Prenatal Care Program» begin?

It is recommended to begin the Prenatal Care Program as soon as pregnancy has been confirmed. Early prenatal care allows an obstetrician-gynecologist to establish an individualized care plan, schedule the necessary laboratory tests, pregnancy ultrasound examinations, and prenatal screening at the appropriate stages of pregnancy, and closely monitor the health of both mother and baby.
