Parents as coaches: a course in conscious parenting

The course “Parents as coaches: a course in conscious parenting,” led by psychologist and coach Samvel Aganov, focuses on developing children’s independence, responsibility, and motivation. You will learn how to apply a coaching approach in everyday communication with children by asking questions that help them find their own solutions, encouraging initiative, and gradually transferring responsibility without constant supervision or pressure.
The program consists of three practical modules. You can choose an individual module according to your needs or take the full three-session course.
Module 1 – Goal setting and prioritization
Date: October 4, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM
Participants will explore the fundamentals of coaching and learn how to use to-do lists and SMART goals, set priorities, and break down larger tasks into specific steps. We will introduce the Eisenhower Matrix and the impact-versus-effort framework as planning tools that can be adapted for children.
Module 2 – Distractions, procrastination, and perfectionism
Date: October 11, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM
We will explore why children put things off, struggle to concentrate, or fear making mistakes. Participants will learn to identify the causes of procrastination, recognize distractions, and choose appropriate strategies. Special attention will be given to fostering independence without excessive reminders or control.
Module 3 – Multitasking, effective planning, and workload balance
Date: October 18, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM
We will examine why being busy does not always mean being productive, how frequently switching between tasks affects concentration, and how to plan time realistically. Participants will learn how to assess a child’s workload, set priorities, and ensure there is enough time for sleep, physical activity, independent play, and rest.
The course is designed for parents of preschoolers, school-age children, and teenagers, as well as prospective parents, psychologists, educators, coaches, and other professionals who work with children and families.
The aim of the course is to help parents move from constant instructions to constructive dialogue, create an environment that encourages children’s independence, and help them gradually take responsibility for their own decisions.
